Pyranchantha (Firethorn) shrubs grow in my front yard and their beauty changes seasonally.  The beautiful red berries in the fall are especially brilliant.  This vision called me for weeks before I finally decided that mid to late afternoon gave me the perfect light for my large plein aire piece.  I used the palette knife to show the colors and textures of this "Firethorn Ablaze".
